The Fox on the Fairway

The Fox on the Fairway

By Ken Ludwig
Directed by Fran Walker

Ken Ludwig's (Lend Me A Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo) country club-set comedy A Fox on the Fairway offers a true homage to farces.  He has included lovers’ quarrels, overheard conversations, the battle-ax who’s a sucker for compliments, and the surprise ending.   Louise and Justin have been dating, and will soon be engaged; Bingham and Muriel wish they had never gotten engaged, let alone married, lo those many years ago; and, Dickie and Pamela were wise enough to call it quits after six torturous months of marriage.

All the action takes place at the Quail Valley Country Club... the scene of the annual inter-club golf tournament with arch rival Crouching Squirrel Country Club.  Quail’s executive, whose job is on the line since his team has not won in the past five years, and Squirrel’s pompous and arrogant executive, make an absurd personal bet...one that the Quail exec clearly cannot afford to lose. At the time of the wager, each believes he has the advantage, but the tables keep turning at a mad-cap pace that may remind you of the Marx Brothers at their absolute zaniest.
