Fanny BriceBaby Snooks and Daddy

"The Halloween Show, " Originally broadcast November 1, 1946

April 21, 2010
Directed by Jim Rowley

Audition dates have yet to be determined

Snooks wants to go trick or treating for Halloween but Mommy and Daddy don’t want her out and getting into trouble.  Besides, Daddy is expecting an evening visit from the doctor to examine him for insurance.  Phoebe arrives to see if Snooks can come out to trick or treat for Halloween…  Daddy relents but then decides to scare them and teach them a lesson.  In the process he also scares their friend Roger which leads to a confrontation and a scuffle with Roger’s dad Mr. Hopkins.

Daddy and Mr. Hopkins hilariously go back and forth at each other for the remainder of the show, complete with rocks crashing through windows, doors being torn off the house, traps being set for one another, dogs running rampant, a horse in the kitchen and Daddy being stuck headfirst in Hopkins’s chimney.
Meanwhile, the doctor has come to examine Daddy only to fall victim to a beaning with a flat iron and a dousing with cold water.

This is a very funny show, replete with built in commercials for Jello, one of the shows original sponsors.  It will be presented in classic radio theatre style with actors standing at microphones, script in hand.  As well as the cast, there will be two or three people on stage making all of the sound effects (closing doors, clattering of dishes/silverware, ringing phones, a scuffle, glass shattering, etc.), the background music (one person at an organ keyboard) and possibly someone with signs encouraging the audience to applaud, laugh, groan, etc..  This should be great fun for all involved, especially our audience.
